Meadow Madness Kicks off Reading Children's Festival 2011
A three-week action packed programme of free activities is in store for thousands of families during Reading's 22nd Children's Festival.
Meadow Madness marks the start of the celebrations, bringing fun, mayhem and madness to Christchurch Meadows.
Meadow Madness returns for the eighth year running as the launch event to Reading Children's Festival. A whole host of attractions are on offer from 11am-4pm with a range of sports to try, a 'larger than life' circus workshop, climbing wall, arts and crafts, balloon modelling and a wide range of music and dance performances. This year's Meadow Madness has a royal theme, so get ready for a thoroughly regal experience!
Other attractions include a chance to join in the Bengali Cultural Society who will perform in the main arena during the afternoon as well as Beetroots Bateria – Reading's community drumming group who will be performing two special sets throughout the day with their energetic carnival style.
Reading Children's Festival boasts events, music, drama, sports and arts events all over the borough, and takes place from May 14th - June 5th.
Other highlights taking place during the festival include a whole host of special workshops and activities run by Reading Libraries and the Museum of Reading. There is also the Reading Contemporary Art Fair, Teddy Bear's Picnic, a children's concert by Reading Symphony Orchestra, The Reading Dance Showcase, the 34th Annual Reading Community Carnival, Children's Olympics and Children's Festival Film Day.
